Project Momentum, a New York based not-for-profit corporation whose primary mission is the delivery of direct medical aid in West Africa, is partnering with Mount Sinai Medical Center and the Clinton Global Initiative to send a surgical support team to Liberia. The Mission dates are January 5 to January 18, 2008.
This mission began as a response to Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf requesting doctors to come to Liberia to help with the overwhelming medical needs in the country. Project Momentum is committed to the well being of the people of Liberia. In addition to the medical support team, Project Momentum will be delivering another large shipment of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies valued at 1.2 million dollars. Included amongst these doctors are general surgeon, anesthesiologist, OB/GYN, pediatric surgeon, plastic surgeon, radiologist, and ophthalmologist. Medical students and a videographer will accompany these doctors. The doctors will be based in two hospitals in Monrovia, JFK Hospital and Phebe Hospital.
Project Momentum thanks the Clinton Global Initiative, Mount Sinai Medical Center, Direct Relief International and all the doctors and support personnel for their selfless support of the people of Liberia.
